Henry Ford once said something that’s the key to MLM success.

Here is what he said -

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you are right.”

Apart from wealth, every celebrated MLM leader has unshakable self-belief. Well, they have it now. Most didn’t always have it. Many will tell you they struggled in the early days, just as 90+% of network marketers struggle.

And that’s the important thing to remember. For those of us who doubt our own ability, it can be awfully tempting to think that people who ooze confidence – such as Randy Gage and Mike Dillard – must have been born confident.

Not true. They had their self-doubt, just like us.

They will tell you that the moment they found their self-confidence is the moment their fortune started to change.

The problem is that most of us can’t wait the five, seven or ten years it might take for our self-belief to kick in. We need it now.

Well, here’s the good news. Confidence can be learned.

It’s not really that difficult – at least it’s not difficult for psychologists who understand how our minds work.

The thing is, we can’t be ordered to be confident. We can’t be bullied into a state of invincibility.

I have heard speakers at MLM company motivation events tell distributors “just pick up the phone, it will get easier” and “don’t worry, after the hundredth presentation, you won’t be so nervous”.

That approach doesn’t work.

Why not? Because it talks to our conscious mind – and that isn’t the part of our brain that needs convincing. If our conscious mind is saying “I am confident” but our subconscious is saying “I am not confident”, guess which one wins.

The ONLY way to become truly self-confident is to bypass the conscious mind and talk directly to the unconscious mind.

This is a science that we only now understand – and it is a science that has only recently been applied to the unique problems faced by network marketers.

Henry Ford told us WHAT we need to do to succeed. What he couldn’t tell us is HOW to do it. That is something that has taken nearly 100 years and decades of scientific research to achieve.

Finally, every one of us who needs to develop unshakable self-belief can be coached. Gaining confidence no longer happens as a result of years of experience. It can be learned right now.

For me, this is exciting. It means that success can start now, in 2011, not in eight years time – if at all.
